this is from my march/april zine. my cut of the proceeds of these tattoos (plus tips) is going to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. there have been a lot of things going on lately within the tattoo world, and I’d like to make something clear: those who use the intimate work-relationship formed between tattooer and client to perpetuate sexual violence or power dynamics have been doing this for a long time. This is not a new thing, and for every person who has come forward, there are many, many more who have had detrimental experiences within our community. It goes without saying how despicable and unacceptable this is, and sadly it’s just the tip of the toxic iceberg. as a female-identified person in this industry who has experienced my own fair heap of shit, (though obviously people of any gender can be targeted), I vow to always do my best to make people with all bodies comfortable and happy. I will also happily recommend other artists around the US that I consider to be safe and conscientious tattooers if asked. Love to you all, stay safe.
