Try our version with whole wheat mawa cake which involves very less processed sugar in making and is a great option for all your sweet cravings.
¾ cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp grated carrot
¼ cup raisins
2 tbsp wheat bran
1 tsp baking powder
4 tsp melted butter
¾ cup milk
5 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla essence
½ tsp fruit salt
for the topping
1 tbsp brown sugar
1)Combine the wheat flour, wheat bran, raisin, carrots and baking powder in a deep bowl, mix well and keep aside.
2)Combine the butter, milk, honey and vanilla essence in another deep bowl and mix well.
3)Add the flour mixture and mix well using a wooden spoon or spatula.
4)Add the fruit salt and mix gently.
5)Place 11 paper cups in 11 muffin moulds of a muffin tray.
6)Drop 1½ spoonfuls of the batter into each muffin moulds.
7)Sprinkle a little of brown sugar on top and bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c for 10 to 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a muffin comes out clean.
8)Cool slightly and serve.
