Bienvenue à la Moulin Rouge circa 1914! One year before it burnt down and was closed for 6 years (swipe for pictures of the Red Mill itself before it was rebuilt). It reopened in 1921. Located on 82 Boulevard de Clichy, Paris, the Moulin Rouge opened in October 1886, the home of the Can-Can dance, is a cabaret venue. The can can was originally a seductive, high energy dance that became popular in the 1840s, still echoing in French cabaret to present day. It was first danced by both men and women but evolved into the classic chorus line of women we are all familiar with today. The swishing of skirts and petticoats, kicks, splits and gymnastic type movements are signatures of this dance.
Now let me ask you this, can you do the can-can? 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
